Water seepage problem is bothering lot of property owners and the tenants.
We have years of experience in detecting the source of seepage using different technologies, such as the infrared survey, and have been successful to solve numbers of water seepage problem. However it is a method observing the variation in surface temperature, the phenomenon caused by the water seepage. There are situations where it cannot give conclusive result.
We have recently brought the technology of microwave moisture measurement to remedy the insufficiency of Infrared. Actual moisture content inside concrete is measured and it allows us to have a picture at the area close to the source of seepage.
Microwave Moisture Test
Water molecules are highly polarized at microwave frequencies. It means the water molecules will orientate in a preferred direction given by the electric field. The phenomenon is usually described by the dielectric effect. The effect of water is very strong in comparison with that of solid. The bulk moisture content in materials can thus be measured by means of such characteristic.
Microwaves are very sensitive to the dielectric effect of the water molecules in which they exist. Together with well-designed measurement arrangements, even very small moisture contents have a substantial indication in the microwave moisture measurement. Location with high moisture content in wall, slab or ceiling can easily be found out from the moisture distribution within the volumes. This measurement is a useful tool to identify location of water seepage where it always has higher moisture content.
